Wichita, KS. - Sunrise’s quest for the Geico National Championship will officially start November 9th at 7 p.m. Sunrise will host PHHoenix Prep with great anticipation.
According to MaxPreps, the preseason high school basketball top 20 rankings placed Sunrise #5 nationally. Their guests are ranked #24 in the same poll. PHH Prep added Shamar Moore, Jayson Petty, Jaylen Wesley, Ty Sandoval, Jonah Jones, and Tyson Wheeler from multiple Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) schools to their prep team this season.
Phoenix finished last year at 23-16 and ended up missing out of the tournament. The last meeting between these two teams was December 12th, 2020. Sunrise led from the start and won 92-66. Will Phoenix come out with some vengeance or will we see similar results again this time around?
The Sunrise Elite team is excited to welcome fans back into the facility at full capacity. This season we are hoping to see a sold out crowd and a packed gym. With some Covid restrictions getting lifted, a lot of the players are excited to travel and play in big facilities. “At Sunrise it's more on the prep circuit,” senior Gradey Dick said. “I’m excited to play in those away games where we play at a high school with those big facilities and student sections.”
