Opponents: Memphis Hardwood Classic Preview

Wichita, KS. - Sunrise Christian Academy (3-0) will be traveling to Memphis, Tennessee for the 2021 Memphis Hardwood Classic. Sunrise will be playing CBC St. Louis on Wednesday, November 24th at 7 p.m. and Bartlett on Thursday, November 25th at 5:30 p.m.


This will be Sunrise’s first road game of the season and they will be put to the test this Thanksgiving week.


Sunrise’s first game in Memphis will be against CBC St. Louis (0-2). The last meeting between these two teams was back in 2013, as Sunrise won in convincing fashion 71-32.


CBC St. Louis finished last season 14-5 and was led by head coach Justin Tatum in his seventh season with CBC St. Louis. Tatum has a history of success with CBC St. Louis as a player and coach here. He won the state championship as a player in 1997 and won as a coach in 2014. Basketball runs in the Tatum family as his oldest son Jayson Tatum is a young superstar in the NBA.


CBC St. Louis has nine returning players this season; Jordan Williams, Rob Martin, Larry Hughes Jr, Justus Johnson, Owen Goddard, Mikhail Abdul-Hamid, Kendal Huston, Bobby Alford, and Eric Holmes. The rest of their 17-man roster includes; Anthony Gause, John Bol, Jaycob Tatum, Nassir Binion, Jervon Ford, Terron Garrett, Matthew Michalski, and Calvin Ross.


Sunrise will take on Bartlett (4-0) on the second night of the Memphis Hardwood Classic at 5:30 p.m. This will be the first meeting between these two teams.


Bartlett has started the season on fire winning all four games convincingly by 15 points or more. Sunrise and Bartlett are both looking to continue their win streak and stay undefeated this Thanksgiving week.


Bartlett is led by head coach Dion Real. The team is led by ESPN’s (class of 2022) 67th ranked player Amarr Knox. Bartlett rounded off their roster with Charvez Ambrose, Devin Crockett, Elliot Driver, Quaylan Hampton, Jr Jacobs, Jordan James, Noah Johnson, Dj Mcintyre, Regale Moore, Kj Neville, and Matthew Stokes.
