Game Recap: Hamilton Heights (Dr. Pepper Classic)

Wichita, KS. - No. 1 Sunrise Christian Academy moves to 23-1 on the season with a 68-33 win over Hamilton Heights. After last night's victory, Sunrise has one last game at the Dr. Pepper classic against McCallie High School.
1st Quarter
Sunrise did not miss in the opening minutes and jumped out to a 13-0 lead. Gradey Dick led the run with 6 points and Cam Corhen was right behind him with 5 points. Hamilton struggled to find separation from the Sunrise defenders and was forced into tough shots.
Hamilton rallied late in the quarter and went on a 9-2 run to bring them back into the game. Sunrise took a 15-9 lead into the second quarter.
2nd Quarter
The struggles continued for Hamilton in the second quarter. Hamilton played a ton of two-man pick-and-rolls and lacked a lot of movement and fluidity in their offense during the first half.
Mark Mitchell got his game going with 5 of his quiet 7 points in the quarter. Layden Blocker always comes off the bench and makes an impact. He had 5 points in the quarter and got better as the game came along. Sunrise outscored Hamilton 14-4 in the quarter and led 29-13 at halftime.
3rd Quarter
Hamilton made adjustments at halftime and came out on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to single-digits. The run was generated by Somtochukwu Cyril as he dominated the quarter with 6 points. His presence in the paint was felt with a couple of dunks and tough shots inside.
Sunrise answered with a 14-4 run to end the quarter and pushed the lead to a game-high 18 points. Blocker led the way with another 5 points in the quarter and pushed his total to 10 points in the game. Sunrise led 43-25 going into the final quarter.
4th Quarter
Sunrise started to pull away late in the third quarter and put the finishing touches in the fourth quarter. Blocker's hands were consistently active the whole game and had multiple deflections and 4 steals. Blocker had 7 points in the quarter and had a game-high 17 points last night. Sunrise subbed in their bench and sealed a 35 points victory.
