International Player Development
Sunrise Christian Academy has grown its reputation in the basketball community as a program where international players thrive. With players every season coming in from abroad, they are able to come in and quickly work to acclimate to the American speed, strength, and climate of the game. Recent examples of international success include a duo from Finland, Miro Little and Miikka Muurinen. Miro arrived ranked far outside the Top 100 of his class and left for Baylor University (BIG 12) having climbed over 75 positions due to the development and stage that Sunrise presents. Miikka arrived late in the summer of 2023 without any ranking or real notoriety attached to his name. By the end of the season (his sophomore year) he was playing a majority of minutes on the floor, saw his rankings go from NR to mid 60's to Top 10 in his class as well as being named the top four-man in his class.
The focus on development at Sunrise isn't always noted by a change in rankings, but international players have continued to find widened avenues to the college of their choice as a result of their time here.
Our staff and faculty is also well versed in how to best supplement the education of students who arrive from other countries as the school already works with non-athlete students of all backgrounds and cultures thanks to the missions-based vision of the academy.
Other international players who thrived at Sunrise include: Bobi Klintman, N'Faly Dante, Sebastian Saiz, Dusan Ristic, Raphael Akpejiori, Buddy Hield, Tum Tum Nairn, Vasalije Pusica, Rauno Nurger, Travis Munnings, Maik Kotsar, Keanu Pinder, Radshad Davis, Almar Atlason, Max Pikaar.... the list goes on and on.
